General Information:
You don't have to continue in the concealed carry application process after the initial class if you don't want to. Carrying a handgun in public just isn't for everyone. With that said, there is still a great benefit by taking the class. You will learn Kansas laws regarding the protection of your home, business, self, and others. This would benefit someone who simply wanted to own a gun and keep it at home for protection there.
Keep in mind, this class isn't focused on making you a good "target shooter". It is more about decision making and awareness than learning how to hit a bullseye. Although you are required to hit the scoring portion of the target 18 out of 25 rounds, this has never been an issue as I am standing right next to you coaching. Even those with no shooting experience have not had any issues passing the shooting portion of the class. However, if you wish to practice, check out the "Class Overview" link. At the bottom of the page there are instructions to make your own practice target just like you'll be shooting at in class. Please don't be nervous. It will be alright. I'm not some ex-drill Sergeant who is going to embarrass you. I want you to succeed and will do my best to equip you to do so.
You do not have to qualify on the day of class with the same handgun you are going to carry after you obtain your permit. If you would like to shoot a .22 caliber handgun to save money, that is fine.
The certificate of completion you will receive after successfully completing my course does NOT have an expiration date. You do not have to rush to complete the application process.
